Indian markets remained under selling pressure on the back of weak economic data points and negative global cues
• | Indian markets remained under selling pressure on back of concerns related to GAAR, weak IIP, Eurozone impact, rising subsidy burden, persistent inflation and weakening rupee |
• | In the recent past-3 months period, only FMCG and Healthcare have done well |
• | BSE Small Cap & Mid Cap Index have out performed the Nifty in the last six months |
• | IIP growth for Apr'12 was barely 0.1% as compared to the revised (-)3.2% for Mar'12 |
Global markets sold off in May
• | May tends to be a weak month for equities. This was proved true one more time as global markets sold off in May 2012 |
• | For the month, the Dow Jones, FTSE and Hang Seng lost 6.7%, 8.4% and 11.7% respectively |
• | Selling pressure in the US markets was led by worries related to exit of Greece from Eurozone and diminished hopes of QE3 from Fed |
