 Deposit growth improves smartly. The latest fortnight, ending 11
Feb ’11, saw an improvement in both yoy credit and deposit growth
rates. Deposit growth for the fortnight increased smartly yoy to 16.9%
compared with 15.9% the previous fortnight.

 Credit growth also increases. Credit growth for the latest fortnight
improved to 23.9% yoy compared with 23.2% the previous fortnight.
 Growth in SLR investments declines. SLR investment growth
declined marginally yoy, to 5.4%, from 5.6% the previous fortnight.
For the fortnight ending 28 Jan ’11, non-SLR investment growth
slowed down to 4.4% yoy, from 6.4% a fortnight earlier, as banks
continued to invest in bonds and debentures.
 Modification in minimum capital requirements of NBFCs . The
RBI has directed that the minimum capital requirement of all deposittaking
as well as systemically important non-deposit-taking NBFCs to
be a minimum of 15% of their aggregate risk-weighted assets and riskadjusted-
value of off-balance-sheet items to be achieved by Mar ’12.
