INDIAN UTILITIES: Generation capacity up 6.3% YoY in
November 2010, all-India generation up 5.2% YoY, ST
prices increase

November 2010 all-India generation was up 5.2% YoY, driven by 63% YoY growth in
nuclear power generation and 10% YoY growth in hydropower generation (better than
normal monsoons at 102% of long-term period average). Thermal power, which contributes
84% of total generation, was up 3% YoY. Generation capacity has increased by 6.3%
YoY during the month.


Adani Power synchronized 330MW capacity during the month; its 990MW operational
capacity reported PLF of 75%. JSW Energy's 860MW Karnataka capacity reported 90%
PLF and 300MW capacity reported PLF of 78%. NTPC reported stagnant generation on
account of fall in gas-based generation in November 2010. Jindal Power reported PLF of
over 100% for the second consecutive month.
