Eicher to roll out next generation 'Pro Series' trucks; target to double market share - Company Visit Note :JPMorgan

Eicher launched its new commercial vehicle range, the ‘Pro’ series. The
new range will be rolled out across the entire product spectrum (from 5-49
tonnes). With this roll out, VECV has signaled its intent to double its
current market share of about 4% in the next three years in the heavy duty
segment.

 Eicher Volvo targeting to double market share: Eicher currently has a
market share of ~4% in the heavy duty truck range (16t and above) and a
~13% market share in the M/HCV category (7-49 tonne). With the new
'Pro' range of trucks VE Commercial is targeting to double its market
share. The trucks launched are the joint development efforts of Eicher
and Volvo group over the past five years.
 Under the new series, there will be four categories of trucks, covering the
entire product spectrum. These categories will include Pro1000 for 5-14
tonne GVW light and medium trucks, Pro3000 for the 9-14 tonne GVW
medium duty trucks, Pro6000 for the 16-40 tonne GVW heavy trucks,
tippers and trailers, and Pro 8000 series that will sell 25-49 tonne GVW
premium heavy trucks, tippers and trailers. VECV also unveiled Skyline
Pro buses, built on a new platform. The models will be rolled out from
Feb’14 over the next 18 months
 The new heavy duty truck range will be powered by new generation
engines adapted from Volvo Group with power capacity of 180-280 hp.
