Sales Traders Commentary
The Indian equity market closed lower for the fifth consecutive session on Tuesday, weighed down by capital goods, oil & gas, realty, auto and power stocks. The market started off trade with more than 100 points gap-up following positive Asian cues, but that could not sustain for long as traders opted to book profits in second half of trade.
While the Sensex closed at 17105, up 02 points, Nifty slipped 04 points to end the day at 5193.
Major gainers were Wipro (1.91%), Dr Reddy`s Laboratories (1.67%), I T C (1.37%), Bharti Airtel (1.24%), Hindalco Industries (1.14%) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.13%).
Major losers were Bajaj Auto (2.43%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.95%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.66%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.63%), Tata Motors (1.48%) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.99%).
The FMCG index was up 0.96%. Major gainers were Dabur India (1.54%), I T C (1.37%), United Spirits (1.22%), Colgate-Palmolive (India) (0.94%) and Hindustan Unilever (0.27%).
The Auto index was down 1.28%. Major losers were Bharat Forge (2.58%), Bajaj Auto (2.43%), Exide Industries (2.4%), Ashok Leyland (0.21%) and Hero Motocorp (0.02%).
The Realty index slipped 1.24%. Major losers were Anant Raj Industries (5.71%), Indiabulls Real Estate (3.11%), D B Realty (2.99%), D L F (1.48%) and Housing Development and Infrastructure (1.22%).
The Power index was down 1.09%. Major losers were Adani Power (4.92%), G M R Infrastructure (4.21%), Reliance Infrastructure (3.21%), A B B (2.33%) and Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.63%).
Major losers in the mid–cap space were Alstom India (5.56%), Aban Offshore (1.08%), Amtek Auto (0.99%), A B G Shipyard (0.79%) and CORE Education and Technologies (0.43%).
Major losers among small caps were A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.91%), Aarti Industries (1.37%), Trident (1.15%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (0.85%) and Action Construction Equipment (0.35%).
Globally, Asian indices ended on a higher note, while European indices were trading mixed.
