GAIL to set up gas based power plant in Uttarakhand
GAIL and UJVN Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for evaluating
the potential of setting up of gas based combined cycle power plants in Haridwar and
Kashipur in Uttarakhand under Joint Venture route. Uttarakhand is currently facing power
shortage and no new power plants are coming up in the state due to environmental
concerns. To improve availability of power in the state, GAIL and UJVNL intends to set up
around 350 to 500MW gas based power plant each at Kashipur and Haridwar. Natural
gas required for both power plants will be supplied by GAIL. We maintain our Buy rating
on the stock with a target price of `539.
