Economy News
4 The earnings from export of marine products crossed the landmark
figure of US $ 2.5 billion in 2010-11, the highest ever, accroding to
provisional estimates of Marine Products Export Development Authority
(MPEDA) (BS).
4 According to the Plan panel prescription, India would have to scale up tax
collections to find resources for achieving 9-9.5% economic growth
without hurting fiscal deficit. (ET)

Corporate News
4 Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has posted its highest ever quarterly net
profit. Its net profit for the quarter ended March 2011, rose 14 % to Rs
53.7 bn against Rs 47.1 bn in the corresponding previous quarter (BS).
4 ArcelorMittal India will have a greater say in the operations of Uttam
Galva. ArcelorMittal India had picked up about 6% stake in 2009 as a copromoter
and has since raised that shareholding five times (ET).
4 Maruti is planning to shift production of about three lakh vehicles from
Gurgaon to decongest the old plant as soon as the two new units at its
Manesar facility (ET).
4 Oil India Ltd (OIL) may be going for a stock split to expand retail
participation in the company (BS).
4 Reliance Industries may invest more than Rs1.5 trillion over the next
five years. The group is sitting on a surplus cash of over Rs 420 bn that has
nearly doubled in one year and further money influx is expected in the
next few months (ET).
4 Coal India Ltd (CIL) has said that the compensation cum rehabilitation
package for Jharkhand government, worked out by its subsidiary Central
Mine Planning and Design Institute, would come to around Rs 78 bn (BS).
4 The finance ministry has asked the State Bank of India to work out the
cost implications of merging the remaining five associate banks with
itself before the government approves the proposed rights issue (ET).
4 Dr Reddy's Laboratories will be allowed to sell a generic version of
Wyeth's antidepressant drug starting June 1 following an agreement
with the unit of Pfizer Inc (BS)
