4 Congress has urged Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to address
concerns of the aam aadmi, including inflation, in the Union Budget.
Congress wishlist for Budget 2011-12 includes rationalisation of Income-
Tax slabs, lowering education and home loan interest rates, cash subsidy
for the poor, better compensation for land acquired and enhanced
allocation for minorities schemes (ET)
4 The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has assured its more
than 5 crore subscribers that it would secure the finance ministry's
approval for the 1% interest rate hike it has declared on provident fund
savings for 2010-11. (ET)

4 The subsidy bill on fertilisers is likely to rise by 60 per cent for the current
financial year in the revised estimates, compared with Budget estimates.
This is despite the decontrol of complex fertiliser prices under the
nutrient-based subsidy (NBS) regime from the beginning of this fiscal. (BS)
4 The EGoM, headed by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, approved the
prices of di-ammonium phosphate (DAP), muriate of potash (MOP),
sulphur and urea for the purposes of its nitrogen component at $580,
$390, $180 and $350 per tonne, respectively. These are the prices at
which contracting by the industry would be done for the whole financial
year of 2011-12 under the Nutrient Based Subsidy (NBS) policy that was
implemented for complex fertilisers from April 1, 2010. (BS)
4 State-run oil firms on Tuesday raised jet fuel price by a massive 4 per
cent, the ninth straight increase in rates since October. (BL)

4 The government will take at least another 2-3 weeks to take a decision
on the $9.6-billion Cairn-Vedanta deal, and it supports ONGC in its
dispute with the British explorer over royalty obligations (ET)
4 Orient Ceramics and Industries Ltd (OCIL) expects to turnaround the
ailing tile maker Bell Ceramics that it acquired in December 2010 by the
end of next fiscal through infusion of new technology and improving
efficiencies.
4 GMR Infrastructure has raised around Rs 5.20 bn of debt from India
Infrastructure Finance Co Ltd (IIFCL) for modernising Delhi International
Airport (BS)
4 Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL)'s integrated steel plant and captive
power plant in Orissa has received a conditional approval from the
Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF). JSPL is setting up a six
million tonne per annum steel plant and 1,000 MW captive power plant
at Kerjang, Angul in Orissa. (BL)
4 Reliance Digital TV has inked a corporate alliance with MIRC Electronics
through which customers can avail Reliance Digital TV on purchase of
Onida television sets. The offer is open on select models of Onida LEDs,
LCDs, ultra-slim, flat and thunder models, a press release issued stated.

4 Tata Motors said that the company's global sales rose 16 per cent in
January to 98,998 units. Cumulative sales, including the Jaguar Land
Rover brands, for the April 2010 to January 2011 period stood at 868,583
units, higher by 27 per cent compared to the corresponding period in
