Dealer’s Diary
The key benchmark indices witnessed a strong session as investors indulged in
bargain hunting across the sectors, which were beaten down in the recent selloff.
The market opened flat in line with overnight US markets and Asian indices
in the early morning. However, momentum gained within an hour of trade as
indices moved up swiftly in early afternoon. From there on the market sustained
at higher levels throughout the session and closed with strong gains for the day.
The Sensex and Nifty ended with gains of 2.0% and 1.7%, respectively. The
mid-cap and small-cap indices also gained in line with the benchmark indices,
registering gains of 1.1% and 1.2%, respectively. Among the front liners, DLF,
JP Associates, Bharti Airtel, Hindalco and Tata Motors gained 4–7%, while Bajaj
Auto was the sole losing scrip with a fall of 1%. Among mid caps, BF Utilities,
JSL stainless, Polaris Soft., Bajaj Finance and National Fertilisers gained 9–20%,
while Shree Global Trading, Manappuram General, Mindtree, Prakash Inds.
and Phoenix Mills lost 5–20%.
Markets Today
The trend deciding level for the day is 18327/5492 levels. If NIFTY trades
above this level during the first half-an-hour of trade then we may witness a
further rally up to 18589 - 18728/5567 - 5607 levels. However, if NIFTY trades
below 18327/5492 levels for the first half-an-hour of trade then it may correct
up to 18187 - 17925/5452 - 5378 levels
