- Cement prices in the northern and central regions declined by Rs10-20 per bag last week; the decline was particularly sharp in New Delhi.
- The steep drop is due to poor demand and increasing competitive intensity.
- Based on dealer feedback, we expect YoY despatch growth for the industry in November 2010 to decelerate sharply compared to October 2010.
- Prices in other regions, except the west, declined by Rs5-10 per bag last week, after declining by Rs10-15 per bag in the previous two weeks.
- Our FY11 earnings estimates for pan-India and north-based companies have downward risk, based on current cement prices.
