Nifty hit fresh record high. Did not sustained at high level and finally closed up by 0.31%

Statistics

The 30-share Sensex ended up 120 points at 28,563 and the 50-share Nifty closed 27 points higher at 8,564 after hitting a record high of 8,626.95. Market breadth ended marginally positive with 1,507 gainers and 1,449 losers on the BSE. NSE cash turnover was at Rs. 18352.

Sectors & Stocks

In the broader market, BSE midcap and Smallcap indices ended up 0.3% each. BSE FMCG index was the top sectoral gainer up 3% followed by Capital Goods, Metal and Bankex indices. Consumer Durables, IT, Oil and Gas indices were the top losers. FMCG majors ITC ended up 5.4% and Hindustan Unilever ended up 0.9%. BHEL ended down 1.6%. Sesa Sterlite ended up 2.8%
    
Way forward

In todays session Nifty opened with an up gap (new intra-day high) but filled immediately  & moved sideways for 3/4th session & closed up at  8564.40. If  in coming session Nifty sustains above 8540 level then traders could expect continuation of up move in the Index up to 8580 level followed by 8620 level . If Nifty trades below 8540 level and sustain for 15 mins  then traders could expect the down move up to 8500 level followed by 8460 level.
