On Wednesday, Indian equity benchmark ended on a lower note due to profit booking, tracking weak global cues. Both Sensex and Nifty dipped 0.60% each, led by realty, metal, financial, oil&gas, auto and FMCG stocks.
The Sensex closed at 17486, down 112 points while Nifty slipped 36 points to end the day at 5323.
Major gainers index were Bharat Heavy Electricals (3.54%), Hindalco Industries (0.99%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.75%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.29%), NTPC (0.24%), and I T C (0.11%).
Major losers were Jindal Steel & Power (3.15%), G A I L (India) (2.80%), Sterlite Industries (India) (1.99%), Bharti Airtel (1.99%), I C I C I Bank (1.88%), and Cipla (1.67%).
The Power index jumped 0.42%. Major gainers were Bharat Heavy Electricals (3.54%), Adani Power (2.98%), GVK Power & Infrastructure (0.85%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.73%), and NTPC (0.24%).
The Realty index was down 1.35%. Major losers were D B Realty (1.52%), D L F (1.35%), Anant Raj Industries (1.33%), Sunteck Realty (0.61%), and Housing Development and Infrastructure (0.57%).
The Metal index slipped 1.02%. Major losers were Jindal Steel & Power (3.15%), JSW Steel (1.01%), Hindustan Zinc (0.58%), Bhushan Steel (0.4%), and Coal India (0.34%).
The Bankex was down 0.75%. Major losers were I C I C I Bank (1.88%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.18%), H D F C Bank (0.6%), Federal Bank (0.36%), and Bank Of Baroda (0.32%).
Major losers in the mid–cap space were A B G Shipyard (1.99%), Alstom Projects India (0.99%), Alok Industries (0.97%), Aban Offshore (0.85%), and Amtek Auto (0.78%).
Major gainers among small caps were Advanta India (4.37%), A B G Infralogistics (0.9%), Action Construction Equipment (0.46%), Aarti Industries (0.33%), and Adhunik Metaliks (0.22%).
Globally, Asian indices ended on a mixed note, while European indices were trading lower.
