§ On Thursday, equity benchmark indices closed lower, extending losses for the second straight day. Auto, banks, consumer durables, capital goods, FMCG, and metal stocks saw sell-offs.
§ The Sensex closed at 20173, down 127 points; the Nifty slipped 37 points to 6042.
§ Major gainers were Hindalco Industries (1.70%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.39%), NTPC (1.33%), Bharti Airtel (0.96%), Reliance Industries (0.94%), and H D F C Bank (0.89%).
§ Major losers were Sterlite Industries (India) (3.80%), Bajaj Auto (3.60%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (3.17%), Cipla (3.05%), Maruti Suzuki India (2.99%), and Larsen & Toubro (2.74%).
§ The IT index was up 0.47%. Major gainers were Tata Consultancy Services (1.39%), H C L Technologies (1.27%), Core Projects and Technologies (1.05%), Tech Mahindra (0.41%), and Infosys Technologies (0.24%).
§ The Realty index down 2.41%. Major losers were Anant Raj Industries (4.31%), Indiabulls Real Estate (3.12%), D L F (1.65%), D B Realty (0.55%), and Ackruti City (0.3%).
§ The Capital Goods index dipped 1.88%. Major losers were BGR Energy Systems (6.16%), BEML (1.72%), Alstom Projects India (1.36%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.33%), and A B B (0.26%).
§ The Auto index slipped 1.59%. Major losers were Bajaj Auto (3.6%), Apollo Tyres (2.38%), Bharat Forge (1.88%), Exide Industries (1.34%), and Ashok Leyland (0.53%).
§ Major losers in mid cap were Alstom Projects India (1.36%), Alfa-Laval (India) (0.86%), Allahabad Bank (0.45%), Ackruti City (0.3%), and A I A Engineering (0.12%).
§ Major losers among small caps were ABG Shipyard (2.92%), Reliance MediaWorks (2.61%), Provogue (India) (0.89%), Abhishek Industries (0.88%), and Adhunik Metaliks (0.37%).
§ Globally, Asian indices ended positive, while European indices were trading higher.
