Sales Traders Commentary
On Tuesday, Indian equity markets continued to rise for the third consecutive day tracking positive global cues. Both Sensex and Nifty gained 1.20% each and closed above 5400 levels. Buying was seen across sectors, with major gainers being metal, oil&gas, realty, power and capital goods stocks.
The Sensex closed at 17813, up 226 points, while the Nifty jumped 70 points to end the day at 5330.
Major gainers index were Sterlite Industries (India) (5.06%), G A I L (India) (4.50%), Jindal Steel & Power (3.80%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (3.42%), Reliance Industries (2.72%), and Hindalco Industries (2.65%).
Major losers were Wipro (1.29%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.00%), Bajaj Auto (0.43%), Tata Motors (0.21%), and I C I C I Bank (0.01%).
The Metal index jumped 3.01%. Major gainers were Jindal Steel & Power (3.8%), Hindustan Zinc (2.94%), Hindalco Industries (2.65%), Coal India (1.8%), and Bhushan Steel (1.45%).
The Oil & Gas index gained 2.60%. Major gainers were G A I L (India) (4.5%), Cairn India (1.17%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (0.95%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (0.63%), and Indian Oil Corporation (0.2%).
The Realty index was up 2.11%. Major gainers were Housing Development and Infrastructure (4.63%), Godrej Properties (3.18%), Anant Raj Industries (3%), D B Realty (1.89%), and D L F (1.61%).
The Power index was up 1.52%. Major gainers were G M R Infrastructure (12.46%), Crompton Greaves (6.55%), GVK Power & Infrastructure (4.77%), A B B (2.37%), and Bharat Heavy Electricals (2.18%).
Major gainers in the mid–cap space were Aban Offshore (7.21%), Alstom Projects India (4.46%), A I A Engineering (0.55%), Alfa-Laval (India) (0.13%), and A B G Shipyard (0.09%).

Major gainers among small caps were A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (3.79%), A B G Infralogistics (3.58%), Aarti Industries (0.6%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (0.56%) and Trident (0.18%).
Globally, Asian indices ended on a positive note while European indices were also trading on similar sentiments.
