NBFC governing norms should be on par with banks: RBI panel (BS)
A committee set up by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday recommended
that the provisioning and asset classification norms of non-banking finance
companies be brought in line with these for commercial banks.
Financial inclusion mandatory for new banks, says RBI (BS)
Industrial houses and companies seeking banking licences will have their work cut
out, as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has mandated new banks to open a fourth of
their branches in unbanked rural centres.
OMCs' borrowings cross Rs 1 lakh cr as they wait for subsidy (BS)
The borrowings of oil marketing companies over the next three months would touch
a record high, despite a rise in fuel prices and rejig in duty structure in June. They are
incurring a daily loss of Rs 235 crore but have not received cash subsidy for the year.
Export duty on iron ore may again go up (BS)
Steel Minister said the duty on iron ore might be raised again, to discourage exports.
The rise had been made in the current financial year’s budget announcement, despite
warnings from mining firms about a spur to commodity prices.
Coal linkages: 974 power firms line up for supply (BS)
The coal ministry has received applications for long-term coal linkage from central and
state utilities, independent power producers (IPPs) and captive power producers for
974 power projects with a generation capacity of over 5.96 lakh Mw, as on July 31.
NSE to launch derivatives on S&P, Dow (Reuters)
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) will launch derivative contracts on the Standard &
Poor's 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average on Monday, it said in a statement,
allowing Indian investors access to global indices.
Govt maintains agri growth target at 4% for 12th Plan (BS)
The Ministry of Agriculture has proposed to maintain the annual agricultural GDP
growth at four per cent for the 12th Plan period starting 2012-13.

India, South Africa set $15-bn bilateral trade target by 2014 (BS)
India and South Africa on Monday decided to increase two-way trade between both
countries to $15 billion by 2014 from $10.64 billion.
Indian Oil to shut Mathura plant, Koyali units in Sept – source (Reuters)
Indian Oil Corp, the country's biggest oil refiner, will fully shut its 160,000 barrels per
day (bpd) Mathura refinery in northern India from Sept. 21 for a three-week
maintenance, a source familiar with the plan said on Monday.
Maruti halts production at plant on worker issues (Reuters)
Maruti Suzuki, India's top car maker, on Monday has halted production at its Manesar
plant in Haryana after it dismissed some workers and asked all others to sign a "good
conduct bond", a company spokesman said.
Reliance Broadcast in talks to raise upto $86 mln, shares rise (Reuters)
Reliance Broadcast is in talks with several private equity players and strategic
investors to raise 3-4 billion rupees ($64-$86 million) through a fresh equity issue,
sending its shares up more than 5 percent on Monday.
