Railway Budget is one of the key tools for the government to connect
itself to the “AAM AADMI” on account of the mass connect. The
forthcoming railway budget is expected to be more populist in nature
despite lower than expected growth in freight traffic (756 Mt (Million
tones) during 10mFY11 against FY11 BE (Budget estimate) of 944 Mt)
The lower growth on freight traffic is on account of lesser loading of
iron ore due to restriction imposed by the state government
Karnataka). The rail budget is likely to follow the populist theme on
