Sales Traders Commentary
Indian equity markets gained momentum for the third consecutive session on Tuesday. Both Sensex and Nifty gained 0.70% each. Buying was seen in consumer durables, capital goods, oil&gas, metal, financials and PSU stocks, which gained more than 1% each.
The Sensex closed at 17597, up 120 points while Nifty jumped 41 points to end the day at 5358.
Major gainers were Hindalco Industries (3.25%), Sterlite Industries (India) (2.87%), State Bank Of India (1.95%), Larsen & Toubro (1.93%), I C I C I Bank (1.87%), and Reliance Industries (1.57%).
Major losers were Hero Honda Motors (2.25%), Maruti Suzuki India (2.12%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.04%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.04%), Bharti Airtel (0.96%), and Hindustan Unilever (0.49%).The Consumer Durables index gained 2.14%. Major gainers were Whirlpool Of India (8.35%), Blue Star (4.01%), Titan Industries (2.04%), Rajesh Exports (1.34%), and Gitanjali Gems (0.41%).The Capital Goods index jumped 1.65%. Major gainers were Lakshmi Machine Works (4.47%), Alstom Projects India (1.9%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.5%), A B B (1.39%), and Crompton Greaves (1.18%). The Oil & Gas index was up 1.56%. Major gainers were Cairn India (4.66%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (2.2%), G A I L (India) (1.34%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (1.11%), and Gujarat State Petronet (0.19%).
The HC index was down 0.45%. Major losers were Dr Reddy`S Laboratories (2.63%), Fortis Healthcare (1.78%), Cadila Healthcare (1.65%), Lupin (0.59%), and Divis Laboratories (0.24%).
Major gainers in the mid – cap space were Aban Offshore (3.51%), Amara Raja Batteries (2.51%), A B G Shipyard (2.41%), Alstom Projects India (1.9%), and Alfa-Laval (India) (0.12%).

Major gainers among small caps were A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (8.02%), Action Construction Equipment (2.85%), Trident (1.99%), Reliance MediaWorks (1.5%), and Aarti Industries (0.99%).
Globally, Asian indices ended on a mixed note, while European indices were trading in the red.
