§ On Thursday, equity benchmark indices closed lower, extending losses for second straight day. Realty, Healthcare, Bank, Metal, Oil & Gas, IT, Capital Goods & FMCG stocks witnessed sell-offs.
§ The Sensex closed at 18684, down 285 points, while the Nifty slipped 83 points to 5604.
§ Major gainers were Tata Motors (2.48%) and Tata Consultancy Services (0.62%).
§ Major losers were D L F (5.42%), Sterlite Industries (India) (5.28%), Mahindra & Mahindra (4.87%), Reliance Communications (3.88%), Hindustan Unilever (3.78%), and Bharti Airtel (3.32%).
§ The Realty index dipped 3.57%. Major losers were D L F (5.42%), Anant Raj Industries (4.03%), D B Realty (2.06%), Indiabulls Real Estate (0.59%), and Ackruti City (0.15%).
§ The HC index slipped 2.61%. Major losers were Biocon (3.34%), Cipla (2.89%), Cadila Healthcare (1.88%), Aurobindo Pharma (1.56%), and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (1%).
§ The Metal index dipped 1.98%. Major losers were JSW Steel (4.99%), Bhushan Steel (4.47%), Hindustan Zinc (3.67%), Jindal Steel & Power (2.27%), and Hindalco Industries (0.79%).
§ The Bankex index was down 1.85%. Major losers were Federal Bank (3.94%), Bank of Baroda (2.98%), Canara Bank (1.79%), H D F C Bank (1.67%), and Bank of India (1.67%).
§ Major losers in the mid cap space were Aban Offshore (2.08%), Alstom Projects India (2.07%), A I A Engineering (1.56%), A B G Shipyard (1.51%), and A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.46%).
§ Major losers among small caps were A K Capital Services (8.66%), Action Construction Equipment (1.03%), INEOS ABS (India) (0.95%), Provogue (India) (0.81%), and Abhishek Industries (0.33%).
§ Globally, Asian indices ended mixed, while European indices were trading positive.
