Sales Traders Commentary
Indian equity markets ended flat on Tuesday with a positive bias. Amongst companies which declared results, HUL gained over 7% after reporting better than expected numbers whereas Wipro was down 3% after it came out with weak numbers and poor guidance. On a sectoral basis, FMCG, oil&gas and consumer durables traded higher while capital goods and IT declined.
While the Sensex closed at 16918, up 41 points, Nifty jumped up 11 points to end the day at 5128.
Major gainers were Hindustan Unilever (7.50%), Sterlite Industries (India) (2.56%), Maruti Suzuki India (2.34%), Bharti Airtel (1.42%), G A I L (India) (1.15%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.96%).
Major losers were Wipro (2.93%), Larsen & Toubro (1.45%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.38%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.96%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.90%), and Hero Motocorp (0.79%)
The FMCG index was up by 1.91%. Major gainers were Hindustan Unilever (7.5%), United Breweries (5.24%), Godrej Consumer Products (3.19%), I T C (0.4%) and Dabur India (0.08%).
The Consumer Durables index was up by 1.16%. Major gainers were Titan Industries (2.41%), V I P Industries (1.01%) and Gitanjali Gems (0.53%).
The Oil & Gas index was up by 0.84%. Major gainers were Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (2.66%), G A I L (India) (1.15%), Cairn India (0.87%), Oil India (0.74%) and Gujarat State Petronet (0.52%).
The Capital Goods index was down by 1.09%. Major losers were Alstom T&D India (2.7%), Bharat Electronics (1.49%), BEML (1.04%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.96%) and Alstom India (0.21%).
Major gainers in the mid – cap space were A B G Shipyard (1.76%), Allcargo Logistics (1.45%), CORE Education and Technologies (0.61%), A I A Engineering (0.52%) and Andhra Bank (0.42%).
Major gainers among small - cap were A B G Infralogistics (5.45%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (0.87%), Action Construction Equipment (0.71%), Trident (0.64%) and Aarti Industries (0.27%).
Globally, Asian indices ended on a lower note while European indices were trading in the red.
