Sales Traders Commentary
On Friday, the Indian equity markets opened on a weak note on the back of profit booking and weak global cues. Market recovered from day’s low on the back of short covering. Both Sensex and Nifty gained 0.40% each. Sustained buying was seen in capital goods, realty, FMCG, power and financials stocks.   
While the Sensex closed at 16718, up 70 points, the Nifty jumped 19 points to end the day at 5068. Major gainers were Sterlite Industries (India) (3.50%), G A I L (India) (3.06%), Larsen & Toubro (2.53%), I T C (1.97%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.58%), and Hindustan Unilever (1.36%).  Major losers were Maruti Suzuki India (1.66%), Infosys Technologies (1.38%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.37%), Bajaj Auto (1.11%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.75%), and Tata Steel (0.27%).
The Capital Goods index jumped 1.78%. Major gainers were A B B (2.98%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.58%), Crompton Greaves (1.27%), Bharat Electronics (1.05%), and Alstom Projects India (0.06%).
The Realty index gained 1.40%. Major gainers were Housing Development and Infrastructure (5.89%), Prestige Estates Projects (3.15%), Oberoi Realty (1.66%), D L F (1.24%), and Anant Raj Industries (0.21%).
The FMCG index was up 0.89%. Major gainers were I T C (1.97%), Colgate-Palmolive (India) (1.65%), Hindustan Unilever (1.36%), Marico (0.58%), and Jubilant FoodWorks (0.4%).
The IT index slipped 0.75%. Major losers were Infosys (1.38%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.75%), and H C L Technologies (0.05%).
Major gainers in the mid cap space were Aban Offshore (2.23%), Allcargo Logistics (1.64%), Amara Raja Batteries (1.04%), CORE Education and Technologies (0.49%), and Alstom Projects India (0.06%).
Major gainers among small caps were Aarti Industries (4.63%), Styrolution ABS (India) (4.03%), Reliance MediaWorks (1.29%), Trident (1.05%), and Action Construction Equipment (0.69%).
Globally, Asian indices ended on a lower note, while European indices were trading in the red.
