Dealer’s Diary
The market pared losses after a low opening. A bout of volatility was witnessed
as the key benchmark indices slipped into the red after reversing initial losses to
hit fresh intraday highs in morning trade. The market alternately moved
between the positive and negative terrain in mid-morning trade. The Sensex hit
a fresh intraday high in early afternoon trade. The market extended gains in
afternoon trade as European stocks rose in early trade. The uptrend continued
in mid-afternoon trade. The market pared gains from the day's high in late
trade with the Sensex and Nifty closing up by 0.4% each. The mid-cap index
closed up by 0.8%, while the small-cap index gained 0.7%. Among the front
runners, JP Associates, RIL, Infosys, Cipla and Tata Steel gained 1–2%, while
HUL, Hero Honda, L&T, Wipro and Bharti Airtel lost 1–2%. Among mid caps,
Bajaj Finserv, India Infoline, Sun Pharma Adv, Karnataka Bank and HDIL
gained 6–9%, while Berger Paints, Manappuram Gen, Cox & Kings, Pantaloon
Retail and Kirloskar Oil Engines lost 3–4%.
Markets Today
The trend deciding level for the day is 18,464/5,545 levels. If NIFTY trades
above this level during the first half-an-hour of trade then we may witness a
further rally up to 18,577–18,659/5,582–5,607 levels. However, if NIFTY
trades below 18,464/ 5,545 levels for the first half-an-hour of trade then it may
correct up to 18,383–18,270/5,519–5,482 levels.
