§ On Tuesday, Indian equity benchmarks bounced back, snapping earlier losses, led by global support and some short covering, after falling consistently for the past three sessions. Buying was seen across sectors, with major gainers being realty, healthcare, auto, PSU and oil & gas stocks.
§ The Sensex closed at 17988, up 149 points, while the Nifty was up 49 points to 5413.
§ Major gainers were Maruti Suzuki India (3.77%), DLF (3.17%), Bharti Airtel (2.68%), Jaiprakash Associates (2.05%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.90%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (1.66%).
§ Major losers were Jindal Steel & Power (0.31%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.28%), I C I C I Bank (0.27%), H D F C Bank (0.13%), and Bajaj Auto (0.01%).
§ The Realty index was up 2.19%. Major gainers were Anant Raj Industries (7.46%), Mahindra Lifespace Developers (3.66%), D L F (3.17%), Indiabulls Real Estate (2.51%), and Godrej Properties (1.21%).
§ The Auto index was up 1.53%. Major gainers were Amtek Auto (6.18%), Apollo Tyres (4.09%), Bharat Forge (2.78%), Ashok Leyland (1.84%), and Exide Industries (0.6%).
§ The Healthcare index was up 1.10%. Major gainers were Aurobindo Pharma (1.81%), Cipla (1.56%), Cadila Healthcare (1.42%), Biocon (0.92%), and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (0.52%).
§ The PSU index was up 1.08%. Major gainers were Andhra Bank(1.78%), Bank Of India (1.61%), Allahabad Bank (0.41%), Bank Of Baroda (0.34%), and Balmer Lawrie & Company (0.31%).
§ Major gainers in the mid cap space were A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (3.79%), Core Projects and Technologies (1.29%), A I A Engineering (1.27%), A B G Shipyard (0.65%), and Aban Offshore (0.6%).
§ Major gainers among small caps were Reliance MediaWorks (1.7%), Provogue India (1.29%), Abhishek Industries (0.76%), Adhunik Metaliks (0.6%), and A B G Infralogistics (0.03%).
§ Globally, Asian indices ended higher, while European indices were trading mixed.
