§ On Tuesday, intense pressure was felt across board. Consumer durable, realty, oil & gas and PSU stocks declined.
§ Sensex closed down at 17,775.70, down 1.47%, and Nifty ended down 1.57%, at 5,312.55.
§ Gainers were Bajaj Auto (1.81%), Tata Power (1.50%), Cipla (0.78%), and Hindalco Industries (0.75%).
§ Losers were Jaiprakash Associates (6.49%), Mahindra & Mahindra (6.16%), ONGC (5.83%), Reliance Communication (4.41%), Tata Steel (3.19%), and ICICI Bank (2.63%).
§ The Consumer Durables index was at 5,657.95, down 168.98 points or 2.90%. Major losers were Vip Industries (7.15), Titan (6.02%), & Videocon Industies (2.16).
§ The Realty index was at 2,183.73, down 52.22 points or by 2.34%. Major losers were Indiabulls Real Estate (4.39%), Orbit Corporation (3.86%) & HDIL (3.47%).
§ The Oil & gas index was at 9309.10, down 185.31 points or by 1.95%. Major losers were Petronet LNG (3.43%) Oil India (1.41%) & Cairn (1.34%).
§ The PSU index was at 8,525.18, down 124.20 points or by 1.44%. Major losers were Powergrid (2.20%) & Coal (1.37%).
§ The Bankex index was at 11,631.12, down 168.10 points or by 1.42%. ICICI Bank slipped over 2%. Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, and Kotak Mahindra Bank were own 0.6-2.0%.
§ Globally, Asia ended on a muted note, while Europe was trading flat.
